⁶ Therefore, he summoned his officers, nobles who had been brought up with him from his youth, and he divided his kingdom among them while he was still alive. ⁷ Then, in the twelfth year^[a] of his reign, Alexander died.

⁸ After that, his officers assumed power in the kingdom, each in his own territory.
